ActiveRain Takes A Day at the Beach

Have you seen the newest theme released today for your Outside Blog?  It is called A Day at the Beach.  This exciting new theme features a pictures of a beach & waves along the side.  It also allows for a Header image for your blog.  Below is a screenshot of what it looks like, or you can always visit my outside blog to view it in real time.

Remember, changing your theme is a simple deal. All you have to do is head over to your outside blog after clicking on the link from the left hand side of your 'my home' page. Once on your outside blog, click the 'theme' link up at the top of the page and select the theme you want to use.

If you don't have a custom ActiveBlog on your own domain yet, Brad Andersohn takes you through the step by step of how to get it set up. If you have recently signed up for the Rainmaker upgrade, your ActiveBlog is included in your upgrade so make sure to get it set up.

Gary, this is one of my fav themes since I live at the beach :)

That's fantastic, Jeremy.  So serene.  I like it.  I have to go change my theme now.  Bye.  (Thanks for your help, too.)

OK.  I just changed my outside blog background.  This works really well.  I like the way the actual outside blog page blends into the background without blocking it out completely.  It's so beautiful.  Great job!

OK, Jeremy, rub it in!  I live in the desert and long for the beach life again.  I look at our beautiful lake everyday but there's nothing like an awesome beach view.

Jeremy,

Changed into my bikini and went to give my OB a summer look.  But I now have on my cover-up and a question.

How does one get a beachy photo header type thing?

Posted by Irene Kennedy Realtor® in Northwestern NJ (Weichert) about 1 year ago

Thanks for great info.

Posted by Suma Kakani (Northern IL Realtor - Keller Williams Success Realty) about 1 year ago

Hehe Irene- You have to have a photo of your own to design your own header :)

You had me ready to head for the beach. I need it to cool off just a bit first. This is the first day it has been over 100 all week. It's bad when high 90s is better!

Uh Oh!  May have to go change mine now....

do you think my "beach" photos from Hawaii may have influenced Jorgen and the gang?  lol~ ;-)

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) about 1 year ago

It was either that, or my header on mine that did it.  Not sure which!

Sorry, I'm a moron. I had logged in as you Albert to see if you had the outside blog

Alfred,

You asked, "So what's the advantage of having this outside blog over blogging like I do now?"

I think the most prevalent one is the ability to have your blog on your own domain. The domain of your current blog is http://activerain.com/blogs/aharding

With an outside blog you could have your blog hosted at beachvillaresortblog.com (or any domain name you wanted that's available) if that was an available domain. Your outside blog upgrade comes with the the ability to register a domain name for your blog (as a part of the $19 upgrade price). The outside blog also gives you the ability to install google analytics and get some great feedback on how people find your posts. We do the heavy lifting on the SEO side of things and are making a very concerted effort to get our member's outside blogs to perform well in the search engines (although it doesn't happen over night). There are varied customizable themes.......

We have a component called RAINdexing (or Real Area INdexing). where pages are created on your blog with URL's specific to the regions you are blogging about.

Feel free to give me or Jeremy a call if you have additional questions.

LOL WidowMaker...

When I read that via my email I went as far as to click over to see who Alfred was and why he was answering Rain questions with such expertise :)
