ActiveRain Tutorials: Is Your Blog Seen By the Public? If Not, Your Competitors Thank You!

Is Your Blog Seen By the Public? If Not, Your Competitors Thank You!

Last evening I read a really interesting article over on HubSpot about the differences between businesses who blog and those who do not.  Did you know that companies who blog receive 55% more traffic than one who does not?  Over the past few weeks I have helped many of our members figure out how to have their blogs be seen by the public and show up well in the search engines in my Blogging Basics 101 webinar and many had no idea how powerful a blog could be for your online presence.

As I shared the other day, one of the biggest reasons to become a Rainmaker is so your posts will be able to be seen by the search engines and also consumers.  If the consumers are not able to read that what you have written and contact you directly for business, what is the purpose in writing?

I wanted to see if this 55% more traffic held true for our members on ActiveRain, so I decided I would pick two members.  I picked a random rainmaker that had 79,000 points and a random non-rainmaker that had just over 81,000 points.  Both began writing on ActiveRain within 2 weeks of each other and predominantly wrote posts about their local area and consumer centered posts. Here are the results:

Non-Rainmaker StatsRainmaker Stats

The graph on the left are 8 posts from someone who is not a Rainmaker and posts are not able to be read by the public or indexed by the search engines.  The graph on the right was from a Rainmaker.  You can see that there is no comparison between the two.  Someone that is a Rainmaker is receiving 386% more views of their blog posts over someone who is not!  This number was astounding to me.  It made me realize right away the power of being a Rainmaker. On average that means that the post is being read by close to 500 others outside of the ActiveRain network.

I also want to point out, that this number does not take into account the views your posts will receive on Localism and also on your outside blog which also have strong web presences just like ActiveRain does.  Are you convinced yet that maybe you need to be come a Rainmaker?  If not, here are over 1,500 testimonies from our members,

In case you are still hesiatant to spend the money to become a Rainmaker, I want to offer you a special promotion to try out our Rainmaker membership that over 80% of our members have.  If you click on this special promotion link to upgrade, you will be able to try out all of the premium member benefits for the first month for only $5.00.  There are no long term contracts to sign, so if you do not see the results you want, you can cancel at the end of the first month and it has only cost you $5.00.   In addition to trying out our Rainmaker membership, you will also be eligible to take my Blogging Basics 101 Webinar where I will personally teach you everything you need to know about blogging, ActiveRain, and how to use both to optimize your online presence and take you to page 1 of Google.

Jeremy,

I'm a NEW Rainmaker - where do I go for training?  I've seen it before, but can't find it now.

Thanks for all of your informative posts.

Hi Jer!  Those numbers are ASTOUNDING!  I had no idea that the Rainmaker status did so overwhelmingly superior to the non-Rainmakers.  I have to say, I'm glad I'm one!  I haven't checked my stats recently but, I do know that I've gotten a couple of good, solid AR leads lately that just make me smile each time someone mentions Active Rain to me!

Have a wonderful Wednesday...

That is one fantastic example Jeremy of quantifying the difference.  Great way to make the point!!

Jeremey. That is truly eye opening. Your post brought up a question for me though. When you see views and clicks - what exactly does that mean?

Views - is any one who had you post shop up on their screen?

Clicks - any one who actually clicked to open and read the post? or does this reflect they clicked a hyperlink within the post?

I have seen a sharp increase in web traffic since blogging with AR - the website referrals are pointing to AR which confirm it for me.

Hi, Jeremy. I joined Active Rain because it was free and started blogging. It didn't take long to figure out that "Members Only" posts weren't doing me much good and I decided to upgrade to Rainmaker. Just as I was about to do that, one of your Ambassadors called and offered a $10 introductory membership so, obviously, someone is watching over the newbies.

You are doing a great job with your "Into to Blogging" webinar and posts like this! With so many new members joining, it looks like you've found your niche and are filling a need.

Hi Jeremy - As someone who enjoys analyzing statistics, it would be interesting to see the nature of the specific blog posts and examine other details about the specific non-random people you have chosen.  Are we able to somehow access the stats that you can see?

I'd also like to point out that one of the posts in your screen shot of the non-random non-rainmaker did get the attention of senior ActiveRain employees so it could be discussed at some internal ActiveRain meetings.  It was first noticed within 12 hours of it being posted by one key ActiveRain employee.

I think I'll be able to convince the non-rainmaker to join in the next few weeks.

I was aware of blogging raises traffic to our websites but it gives 55% more traffic is unbelievable. Your example of explaining your point is too good.

Hi Jeremy!
I was convinced when the only way I arrived on the first 2 pages of the Rain was because of my localism posts.  I then took a hiatus and dropped to pages 3 and 4.  I am coming back and hope to come back to the first pages!

Hey Jeremy, how were you able to find out the numbers, the data I mean?  I want to be a 'rain maker', but don't know how to justify it without looking at the numbers.  Please help.

Jeremy - When I first started blogging, I found HubSpot quite by accident. I actually found them by Googling. I have used them to help me refine our different websites. If you read their reports, and then make revisions to your sites, you can see it come up in their grading system and proportionately, the website (Google) ranking. I really believe in what HubSpot is doing and your post proves my instincts were correct!

Great tips as always, Jeremy.  I am really starting to see some results in just four months.  AR is amazing, especially the Rainmakers like Jeremy.  Happy Thanksgiving!

This is quite true... Early last year I was blogging a lot more often than I have been and I have seen my leads and the amount of quality leads slowly decrease.

If this doesn't motivate you then nothing will!  Great topic!

Hi Jer:

I was wondering why I am creatively writing blogs on a daily basis with very little response.

My blog is "moving to Vero Beach, Florida:   (variuos Subjects)...

I really am moving in July and I vow to become a rainmaker.  I have been a NJ realtor for 15 years and I really think this may make a difference in starting over....
