ActiveRain Tutorials: 125 Twitter Applications to Make Using Twitter Easier

125 Twitter Applications to Make Using Twitter Easier

*Twitter Applications- A massive list to make Twitter easier to use.

If you are anything like me, there was a time & place when your friends all said "Jeremy! Why are you not on Twitter? You need to use Twitter! It is an awesome new social network that is super effective for producing new business connections!" After several of your friends begged you to join, you finally visited Twitter.com and registered an account.

You finished your registration, added celebrities like @aplusk and your friends from in your database. You sent the infamous "Just trying out Twitter" as your first tweet and then set in complete confusion for the next 6 months trying to understand what to do next. Your friends & celebrities filled your wall with constant stream that was always moving and you had no way of making sense of how to use twitter. You answered your friend requests that filled your inbox and that was about it.  After complete frustration set in, you gave upl & said that Twitter was not for you.

This is a very typical story of so many that have started on twitter. When you use the basic web version of twitter, it is very difficult to understand how it all works & how to optimize your account for business. All you see is constant chatter & movement of links from people you know & those you don't.  This was my feelings on twitter for the first few months.  Until I finally started using a few of these Twitter Applications listed below.

Whenever I am working with a client who does not understand or enjoy using Twitter, it is normally because they are not trying out any of the various Twitter applications that exist. After an hour of online coaching on these applications, it makes things much clearer. Because of this, I decided it was time to put together a mother lode list of Twitter Applications.

This list of Twitter Applications is by no way every single application that exists, so if I miss some, please share in the comments below what applications you love that I may have overlooked. These are however some of the most popular & best applications I have ever found. So without further ado, here is my mother lode list of Twitter Applications:

Twitter Applications- Desktop Versions

Twitter Applications for Photo Sharing

Web Browser Run Twitter Applications

Twitter Applications- Link Shorteners

Twitter Analytics Applications

Scheduled Tweets- Twitter Application

Mobile Twitter Applications

Account Management Twitter Applications

Miscellaneous Twitter Applications

Twitter Marketing Applications

So if you are unsure how to use  twitter or have been completely frustrated with how to use it, try implementing some of these twitter applications into your online experience.  I promise it will help clear up the confusions of using this social network as well as enhance your ability to gain business from it.

**Please note:  I have not personally used each application listed below. I cannot verify their effectiveness or privacy function.  Use at your own risk. **

Jeremy, what is the app where you can schedule tweets. I know NikNik shared it at a conference but I can't remember the name?????

Posted by Missy Caulk, Savvy Realtor - Ann Arbor Real Estate (Missy Caulk TEAM) almost 10 years ago

I use several of these apps, but there are a few on the list I'd never heard of. I'll check them out. Thanks, Jeremy!

Posted by Michelle Minch, Home Staging Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA (Moving Mountains Design Home Staging, Pasadena, CA) almost 10 years ago

Missy- There are several that you can use to schedule.  Check out the schedule tweets section of my post.  I would probably stick to using either hootsuite, or I noticed that Tweetdeck now allows this too.

Posted by Jeremy Blanton, Myrtle Beach REALTOR®- myrtlebeachhomesblog.com (Myrtle Beach Homes Blog) almost 10 years ago

Great List Jeremy.  I'm a devout Twit and have seen (and use) several of thesre apps - but you've really gone above and beyond with this,  I'll be checking them out to see what else fits into my Twitter plan. Thanks

Posted by Rick Schwartz (William Raveis Real Estate) almost 10 years ago

Wow, there is a whole lot more to twitter than I ever knew. I will have to check these out.

Posted by Troy Pappas, Virginia Beach Home Inspector (Safe House Property Inspections) almost 10 years ago

Jeremy, this is astounding!  For such a young program, there certainly are a lot of apps.  I'm a Tweetdeck fan myself.  Thanks for this list.

That is a great list of twitter applications. I didn't realize there were that many applications.

Posted by Robert Schwabe, Orange Park Real Estate (EXP Realty) almost 10 years ago

Jeremy,

You should have verified the links before posting. It appears that this list was a massive cut & paste and links are broken or go to sites filled with popup windows 'domain placeholder' websites.

Jay- this list was verified and done manually when I made it.  If you look at the date, it was published back in June 2010.  A lot has changed over the past 3 years.

Where do you find the time for this stuff? Are most of these twitter account users in the market to buy real estate, if so, what's the percentage and how do you verify your information for accuracy?

Posted by Kimo Jarrett, Pro Lifestyle Solutions (WikiWiki Realty) almost 7 years ago

I've bookmarked this to pass it along to my agents.  As they ramp up their social media efforts on Twitter, this will come in handy.

Posted by Chris and Dick Dovorany, Broker/Associate at Premiere Plus Realty ( Homes for Sale in Naples, Bonita Springs and Estero, Florida) almost 7 years ago

Someone obviously has WAY too much time on their hands . . . in my humble opinion. I guess it's just from being in the business forever, but I pretty much have all the business I can handle without these technological gimmick. Don't use 'em - Don't want to use 'em. But the good news is I just scored another 25 Activew Rain points!

Posted by Keith Whited (RE/MAX Gateway) almost 7 years ago

Keith- What's funny is I've made well more money on that "technological gimmick" than the 25 points comment you just left :)

Posted by Jeremy Blanton, Myrtle Beach REALTOR®- myrtlebeachhomesblog.com (Myrtle Beach Homes Blog) almost 7 years ago

Great blog Jeremy. You need a lot of free time on your hands to figure all that out. I have had a twitter account for a long time, I have

  • 1,684TWEETS
  • 1,500FOLLOWING
  • 751FOLLOWERS

and I'm still trying to figure it out. I get I have to check on all those links of yours. Maybe one a day or so and will eventually find out if it was worth it or not. Thanks again!

Posted by Ivo Henfling almost 7 years ago

Wow Jeremy, you are definately the Twitter geek!  lol

Thanks for the great list!

Posted by Bob Miller, The Ocala Dream Team (Keller Williams Cornerstone Realty) almost 7 years ago

What an incredible resourse.  Every time I post to twitter I always have this feeling like why am I bothering.  My followers are not many and I don't know if they are being read or not.  These apps may turn that around for me.  Thanks for sharing.

Posted by Jay & Michelle Lieberman, Creating Calm in the Buying and Selling Chaos (Keller Williams World Class) almost 7 years ago

baffled @Keith and his comment. .

what a world would be if anything new gets his welcome ...

our whole world is about new technology and advances to make us better. .

25 points?

priorities fail

I think I'll tweet that!

Well, Jeremy, if a person cannot pick one off of that huge list, then they have some problems! I'm a sucker for Hootsuite.

Posted by Melissa Zavala, Broker, Escondido Real Estate, San Diego County (Broadpoint Properties) almost 7 years ago

Jeremy, you mean Twitter was around in 2010? Seems to me that some people would think blogging and Active Rain were "technological gimmicks," just as much as Twitter would be.

Nice. I didn't realize there was so many apps to help with Twitter. Is there even close to as many apps to help with Facebook? Or is that even an option? I have a couple for Facebook already. Just didn't realize this was a possibility. Thank you!

Posted by Chris Frampton, REALTOR, e-PRO, SFR, GREEN (Equity Real Estate) almost 7 years ago

Jeremy, wow, what a list.  It must have taken a ton of time to compile it.  However, I must still admit that I don't find anything about Twitter that appeals to me, except for a subject that I can make fun of.

It just seems to be so out-of-sync with how I conduct my real estate business, and what I am trying to do... which is to continue to build interpersonal relationships... one at a time.

Be that as it may... if it works for you... Enjoy!

Jeremy, I remember this post well! I think it was the first time I had heard of TweetDeck (which BTW promptly changed my way around Twitter!!!). For those who banter the 'benefits' of new tech stuff... Allow me to reiterate - 'if you're not moving forward you are moving backwards'. Keep teaching me my friend as you have so well for many years!
